Description
The Nurse-Midwifery Program educates students to become competent midwives and leaders with a clinical focus on the reproductive and primary healthcare needs of women and neonates. It is designed to prepare highly competent midwives in accordance with the standards established by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) to provide prenatal care, labour and delivery management, postpartum care, well-woman gynecologic care, and primary health care to essentially normal, healthy women and to care for normal newborns. The postgraduate diploma in Midwifery Program is based on a theoretical foundation in the health sciences of women and newborn care as well as clinical preparation, which focuses on knowledge, judgment and skills that incorporate appropriate medical consultation, collaborative management or referral.

Requirements
Candidates wishing to apply to the program must have the following: � Hold a BSc degree in Nursing approved from the University of Bahrain or any other equivalent universities. � Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) equal to or above 2.67 out of 4.0 or its equivalent in other systems. Applicants who have a CGPA from 2.33 up to 2.66 could apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery program after passing three remedial courses according to University of Bahrain postgraduate policy. � Pass the personal interview at the department level. � Submit two recommendation letters. � Minimum one year of clinical experience, while being active on duty. � Hold a valid nursing license from the concerned responsible authorities e.g., National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB)� etc. � English language competency with score of 475 in TOFEL or 5.5 in IELTS.
